Maine Event Podcast #34 - Russell Madness (Review) w/ Kingpin Brian Milonas

This episode is bananas! We get ROH top prospect and one half of the Wrestling Podcast about Nothing, KingPin Brian Milonas, to come on the show and review the movie Russell Madness.  It's part of the Air Bud Entertainment Group and like the rest of the films in this genre it places a dog, Russell, in an unordinary sports role.  This time its the professional wrestling ring against Johnny Mundo! And he has a monkey for a trainer!

Jonny, Harmon and The Kingpin share some laughs breaking down the characters and plot in this film which is clearly aimed at children.  Being 3 guys in their 30's, they're laughing for different reasons other than the constant monkey puns.

Maine Event Podcast #30 - Kickboxer: Vengeance (Review)

It's Critic week, so the Maine boys choose an updated version of an old favorite from their youth.  The movie is Kickboxer: Vengeance an it stars former multi time WWE champ and now big time Hollywood superstar, Dave Bautista (Batista).  It's full of MMA stars and even the original kickboxer, the living legend himself, Jean Claude Van Damme returns to the franchise for the first time since 1989 but this time in the role of Master Durand. If you like 15 minute long training montages you'll love this flick and this review.

Also, Jonny gets real for a few minutes and throws a verbal pipebomb down about something he saw in a pro wrestling FB group.  It's an anti-hate message that he's been thinking about for weeks now in rebuttle to a certain podcaster with a large following who finds "success" by using racist, sexist and homophobic slurs and spreading hatred that his followers eat up and its not cool.  Not cool at all.

And finally, Randy Carver Jr., owner of Limitless Wrestling, pops in to make a very special announcement regarding the upcoming event Question The Answers, happening on Sept. 22 at the Westbrook Armory. It's breaking news and an exclusive announcement that you'll only hear about on this show. Get your tickets soon.  This one is bound to sell out fast.

This is our final show...of season 1.  We'll be back in January to kick off Season 2. However our jobs aren't done yet for this year. Theres so much to cover this month so we did what we do best and thats talk about wrestling. We chat about all those local shows and also whats going on in WWE and NXT at the moment. Enjoy!

Maine Event Podcast #43 - AR Fox (Interview from Sept. 2016)

This week Harmon is in Florida and Jonny is enjoying time off with family for the Thanksgiving weekend. They're bringing you an oldie but a goodie.  In 2016 the guys did a podcast called It's Still Real to Me and were part of the now defunct Smark N' Mark podcasting network. Near the end of the show's run they got a chance to interview the one and only, AR Fox.  The self proclaimed "Whole Foxin' Show" was the coolest guy ever and even after taking a guitar hero guitar shot to the skull he was still willing and eager to do the interview.  Jonny and Harmon have since chronicled the on going and seemingly never ending feud between Fox and fellow Limitless Wrestling standout, Ace Romero.

Enjoy this blast from the past and have a great Thanksgiving.  The boys will be back next week with full bellies and new content.

Maine Event Podcast #42 - Suburban Commando (Review)

It's Critic week here on The Maine Event Podcast so grab your popcorn, coca-cola and some sour patch kids because we've got a blast from the past for ya.  Back in the 80's and 90's when Hulkamania was running wild, Hollywood came knocking on the Hulkster's door.  No Hold's Barred was wildly successful and WWF even worked it into a pretty memorable SummerSlam in 1989.  Then Hogan followed it up with this gem; Suburban Commando. Both Harmon and Fashion remember watching this movie when they were young 10 year old hard core WWF fans.  For one host of the podcast the nostalgia still holds strong and he loves this slapstick filled film.  For the other host, he seems to have lost the kid inside and views it as a snobby adult rolling his eyes and sighing any chance he gets.  Tune in to hear the two review this Hogan era cult classic.

Also, Kennebec Journal Sports Writer, David Dyer, writes in to the show with a review and shares his feelings and thoughts on the film.

And finally, Independant Wrestler, Matt Mahoney leaves us a voicemail telling us why he denied our invite to be the 3rd man this week.  The dude is ruthless!

Maine Event Podcast #39 - Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies (Review)

Thanks to our awesome listeners and followers on Twitter, Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies won our scary movie poll and was selected as the movie of the month for October. Its terrifying.  Not so much in the sense where the blood and gore will frighten you but just in the sense that this movie actually was made. The premise sounds viable enough.  Some of the most famous pro wrestlers in the world get booked for a private show only to soon realize that its a revenge scheme plotted by an evil summoner of the undead. Yeah thats pretty much it.  Roddy Piper tries valiantly to polish this turd but even the great Hot Rod himself can't save it. But you can save an hour and half of your life and $4 if you just listen to Jonny and Harmon review this film.......yeah "film" thats it.
